The DPP Readiness Assessment
What your organisation can prove, not what it believes.
The EU's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation and the Digital Product Passport are moving from framework to enforcement. Textile brands and Tier 1 manufacturers now need to demonstrate what their products are made of, where materials came from, and what evidence supports the claims they publish.
Most organisations believe they are further along than they can prove. That gap between belief and evidence is where regulatory exposure, reputational damage, and wasted investment accumulate. The assessment establishes what your organisation can demonstrate today, and where the barriers to demonstrating more actually are.
What it measures
The assessment goes beyond platforms and processes. It tests the conditions that determine whether your investment builds capability or pays the same cost at every new regulatory requirement:
Has leadership actually made the decisions that belong to it?
Is data tested against a defined standard before anyone relies on it?
Do data requirements shape sourcing and design decisions before they are locked in?
Do your supplier relationships produce real data, or the minimum required to keep the relationship?
Do people across your organisation treat data quality as their own responsibility?
Can your data be trusted and used by parties outside your own systems?
Is your investment producing more capability each season, or paying the same cost repeatedly?
Three stages, one instrument
Foundation. Your executive team, your Sustainability lead, and your Operations lead complete a short assessment together. It shows whether the foundational governance decisions have been made, and where leadership belief and operational reality diverge.
Building. The assessment widens to four to six functions. Readiness that looked solid at Foundation stage often sits in only one or two teams. This stage shows you where.
Scaling. Every function that touches product data takes part: Sustainability, Operations, Procurement, IT, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Design. The result is a complete diagnostic showing where your organisation stands, why it stands there, and what needs to change.
Regulatory requirements deepen through 2033. The assessment repeats every four to six months, each cycle building on the last, so the question it answers is not just where you stand but whether the gap between investment and capability is closing.
What you receive
A one-page leadership summary. It shows where your organisation stands and names which decisions belong to leadership and have not yet been made.
A list of recommended actions, each tied to a specific finding. Actions go to the function responsible for them. Decisions go to the leadership summary. Nothing is generic and nothing is made on your behalf.
An organisational diagnostic showing where functions agree, where they diverge, and what the divergence reveals. The gap between what one function believes and what another can demonstrate is rarely where anyone expected it to be.
A brief for every function involved, showing what the assessment found and how it connects to product data responsibilities across the organisation.
Who is involved
The people who hold the information answer it, not one respondent guessing on behalf of the whole organisation. At Foundation stage, that means your CEO or equivalent, your Sustainability lead, and your Operations lead. At Scaling stage, it means every function with a stake in product data.
Start where you are
It starts at Foundation and builds from there, at the pace your organisation can sustain.
